Breaking News: We’re Helping More Shelter Pets Find Their Forever Homes

More wags. More purrs. More love. It’s what we do. It’s who we are. So when we were presented with the opportunity to use our innovative technology and famed customer care resources to support one of the nation’s premier pet adoption organizations, it was a quick “we’re in.” We’re excited to share the news that Chewy is partnering with Adopt-a-Pet.com, North America’s largest non-profit pet adoption website, to help match more shelter pets with loving pet parents and find their forever homes.

This impactful new partnership will help to deepen Adopt-a-Pet.com’s ability to develop more and even better solutions for how to get more shelter pets adopted, expand their shelter assistance programs and provide animal welfare organizations with tailored support. We will work together to not only increase pet adoptions, but also provide animal shelters and rescues with easy access to the resources and supplies they need to care for homeless animals in the time leading up to adoption.

Each year, 6.5 million animals enter shelters, according to the ASPCA. Of the 3 million cats and dogs euthanized in shelters each year, approximately 2.4 million are healthy and treatable and could have been adopted into new homes, according to the Humane Society of the United States. When you step up and become a hero by adopting a homeless animal, it brings us one step closer to the joyful, compassionate world we all want to share.

Becoming a loving, caring pet parent is for sure a journey of a lifetime—the thrills and spills, wonder and worry, kisses and care. The last thing a new parent needs is having to find supplies on the fly during those first precious few weeks together. We’ll be providing Adopt-a-Pet.com users easy online access to over 1,800 brands, including supplies, food and prescription products that can be shipped directly to their front door and allow them more time to focus on their newly adopted pets. That means more time for cuddles!
